In honor of Mother’s Day, we’re taking a look back at six stories that highlight the incredible journey taken by all parents. From a city in Ghana to a Giraffe Omnibed in a U.S. NICU, these moms show their unconditional love and strength… and why we celebrate them this day.

Our first story comes from Ghana, where new moms and moms-to-be in Kumasi are getting special monitoring thanks to the collaboration between GE Healthcare and ISUOG, to make sure they get the care they need when they need it most.

Back in the US, baby Penelope was born seven weeks ahead of schedule. At that stage, she was barely bigger than a pineapple. This is her story.

Baby twins Drake and Henley were born at almost 24 weeks and needed immediate medical attention. Thanks to some advanced technology, their parents Kelsey and Bryce could be right by their side every step of the way. Read their story here.

This dad knew the technology he worked on as a junior engineer would help millions of babies being brought into the world. But he never thought that one day it would be his own.

Ravelle’s baby, Logan, was born when she was just 34 weeks pregnant. Logan spent 12 days in the NICU. Eventually, treatment including a dose of synthetic lung surfactant worked, and Logan began to breathe on his own.

Last but by no means least, meet baby Madeline. Born in July at only 24 weeks gestation, Madeline weighed just over a pound. Her parents had travelled to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin for care after learning that the twins they were pregnant with suffered from twin-to-twin-transfusion syndrome (TTTS), an imbalance in the blood flow between identical twins who share a placenta.
